The Arkansas Silver Haired Legislative Session (SHLS) was authorized by a concurrent resolution sponsored by Rep. B. G. Hendrix and the late Rep. W. F. “Bill” Foster in the 1977 Arkansas General Assembly. The Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS), in the Department of Human Services, was directed to sponsor the Session in the House of Representatives Chamber at the Arkansas State Capitol.
The SHLS is a mock legislature of senior delegates that has convened every two years since 1978. The Seventeenth Biennial Session will be held August 25 and 26, 2010.
